Paul Fischer is an ancillary character in the rough draft version of the novel Nocturnal by author Scott Sigler. The character is initially introduced in episode one of the audio version of Nocturnal.

Character Background

Paul Fischer is a student attending Galileo High School and is a member of the BoyCo gang that also consisted of Alex Panos, Jay Parler, and Issac Moses. He and his gang mates frequently tormented Rex Deprovdechuk. During the last beating they gave Rex, Paul had sit on Rex’s chest pinning him to ground and allowing Alex Panos to stamp on Rex’s arm eventually breaking it.

After first dreaming of the death of Panos, San Francisco Homicide Detective Bryan Clauser next dreams of Paul being attacked and thrown off the roof of a nearby apartment building. Bryan is able to wake himself from the dream and alert his partner "Pookie" Chang. Shortly afterward, Bryan arrives at the scene of the crime and sees one of the Nocturnal creatures, Sly, fleeing. Paul is barely alive when Bryan finds him and instead of administering CPR, Bryan finds himself compelled to aim his gun at the boy. Before Bryan could do any damage, his partner Pookie arrives and talks him down.

The character’s full name is Paul Fischer. No nicknames were used for this character however, the character’s name is, in fact, the real name of a long time fan and Original Junkie.

Outward Appearance

Paul was described as being 130 pounds (63.05 kg). He frequently wore crimson and gold Boston College branded clothing as the initials "BC" are meant to stand for BoyCo.

Personality

Paul was a follower as depicted in his willingness to follow BoyCo leader Alex Panos in bullying weaker children. His cruelty is reflected in the incident leading up to Rex’s broken arm. As Rex laid prone on the ground, Paul sat on his midsection, pinning him down, while Panos broke Rex’s arm. He was a large child for his age and was not shy about using his size and strength to his advantage.
