Silver Spring

The Silver Spring was an old prospector's legend where "silver poured from the ground like water from a bottomless canteen." Dennis the Deadhead claimed, in a barroom conversation, to have found the mythical spring, and drew a map for Sonny McGuiness. Dennis warned him that the area was cursed, but Sonny traveled to the location and found it really did exist, a tiny spring bubbling out of the side of a mountain in the Wah Wah range in southwestern Utah. The spot should have been a major landmark, as water was scarce in the Utah desert, but he found it oddly undisturbed. He took a sample of the silvery metal he panned out of the spring and, when he had it analyzed, discovered it was not silver, but platinum.
