Wie Chi Yen is an ancillary character in the rough draft version of the novel Nocturnal by author Scott Sigler. The character is initially introduced in episode seven of the audio version of Nocturnal.

Character Background

Wie Chi Yen is a Police Officer with the San Francisco Police Department and is also the partner of Officer Tonda Murphy. Rumors at the police department caused speculation that Yen and his partner were in a relationship, which was actually true -- they were lovers.

Yen is one of the first officers to respond to the 911 call and murder scene of Kyle Souller.

Attributes

Name

The author refers to this character with only the full name of Wie Chi Yen.

Outward Appearance

Yen is described as being solid 5 feet 6 inches (167.54 cm) tall and weighing 180 pounds (81.6 kgs). He is frequently seen walking around with a nightstick, whacking it in his hands.

Personality

From the minimal information given of Yen, he appears to be a formidable police officer. He is described as a walking projection of violence, even when the situation was calm. While his partner is described as the kind of person children would love, Yen is described as a fireplug that kids would run away from. However, opposites attract and Tonda and Yen compliment each other well. Yen is described as liking big women and this also works in Tonda's favor.
