Wilford Igoe, Jr. is a character in the novel EarthCore by author Scott Sigler.

Character Background

Wilford Igoe, Jr., known as Will to his friends, was a 22-year-old geology graduate student at Brigham Young University. On March 15, 1942, he and his friends Samuel J. Anderson and Douglas Nadia were doing fieldwork in Utah's Wah Wah Mountains. They managed to open a passage through an ancient cave-in. Will rested while his companions continued further in, where they were slaughtered by rocktopi. Will himself was killed trying to escape.

The three were reported missing in the April 4, 1942 issue of The Y News. An article on May 30, 1942 reported them to be presumed dead.
