Yolanda Smith is a character in the novel titled The Crypt by author Scott Sigler. The character is initially introduced in episode five of the serialized podcast.

Character Background

Yolanda was the mistress of the second most powerful man in the military, Admiral Vincent Epperson. She thought by becoming pregnant with Epperson's child her lover would fall for her and they would become a family. Instead, it turned him away and into the arms of other women. Yolanda decided to research the Admiral's other lovers and found out that the other two mistresses who became pregnant vanished mysteriously. She knew the dangers of making Epperson angry with her but she pursued her course of action, regardless.

It was at this point that Yolanda was knocked out and woke up in an unfamiliar place, wearing a Navy uniform. Yolanda didn't realize where she was until Chief of Security Sgt Major Sands informed her she was a new recruit on the P.U.V. James Keeling

In episode 5, the author alludes to the fact that Yolanda had stolen an info dot of sensitive information from Admiral Epperson as an insurance policy for her and her baby. She had paid for a body mod (body modification) to be able to hide the info dot in her right molar. It is unclear what information this dot holds, however it is clear Yolanda means to use it as blackmail against the Admiral.
