Mark "The Mangler" Wheeler is a character in the novella named Title Fight which is co-authored by Scott Sigler and Matt Wallace. The character is initially introduced in episode one of the serialized podcast.
Attributes
Outward Appearance
Wheeler is a Heavy-G Human standing 7 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 450 pounds, an impressive specimen as he only had 2% body fat levels. He is described as being young, strong and fast.
Character Background
Wheeler has been fighting in the Intergalactic Fighting Association (IFA) for five years. In these five years, his punch had registered the highest pounds per square of all the species in the IFA. He is described as having exceptional grappling skills, a fantastic knowledge of non-human anatomy and "ground-and-pound skills" that could make a seasoned warrior winch. Both of the wins that resulted in deaths on Wheeler record were executed with his devastating elbow move. IFA champion Korak the Cutter, described Wheeler as the best Human fighter he had ever seen.
When the champ met Wheeler in the ring, Wheeler pummeled him in the first round, almost tearing the Quyth warrior's arm from his thorax. However, Wheeler being an inexperienced fighter, attacked Korak the Cutter when he had seen Korak the Cutter stumble out of his corner at the beginning of the second round. Wheeler had not realized it was a ruse, allowing the Quyth warrior to execute a rabbit punch (blow to the back of the head) followed by an elbow to the throat and a devastating chokehold. Korak the Cutter had meant to tear Wheeler's head from his shoulders but was unable to muster the strength in order to complete the maneuver. The bout ended when Wheeler tapped out standing up.
The inability of Korak the Cutter to behead Wheeler, led to the realization that Korak the Cutter had slowed down and become weaker -- the realization that the Quyth warrior should retire.
Team
Like his Quyth warrior warrior opponent, Korak the Cutter, Wheeler also had a manage, physician, and an electrical and armor man in his corner. Little information is known about their names.
Fight Record
At the beginning of his fight against Korak the Cutter, Wheeler's record reflected: 18 wins 2 losses with wins reflecting:
- 3 submissions
- 12 knockouts
- 2 deaths (1 human/1 Quyth)
