==History==
Once looked upon as an asset to be claimed, they now rule most of the known universe. Creterak is a medium sized planet, located in a political hot zone, near the galactic core. Creterak space is bordered by the [[Harrah Tribal Accord]], [[Quyth Concordia]], and the [[Rewall Association]]. The Creterakians were centuries behind other races in most technologies, but with a few exceptions, such as signal detection they completely outclass other races. Using their mastery of signal detection the Creterakians managed to hide their planet from detection for over 250 years, and was completely unknown until they achieved [[FTL]] capability in 2639.

===Discovery===
In 2639, the Creterakians achieve [[FTL|Faster-Than-Light]] capability and thus make their presence known to the rest of the galaxy. Immediately, the [[Quyth]], Rewalls and [[Harrah]] claim the planet Creterak. The Creterakians make it clear that they claim allegiance to no one and offer their friendship to all. Unbeknownst to the rest of the galaxy, the Creterakians far excelled all others in signal detection technology and had been quietly monitoring the galactic events of the past 200 years without being discovered. This allowed the Creterakians to be far ahead of where any other race was at the [[FTL]] discovery phase of their histories. The Creterakians knew exactly what was going on between all the different species when they announced their presence.

In 2640, [[Quyth]], Rewall and [[Harrah]] fleets converge on Creterak causing tensions to soar as none of the three governments is willing to give up rights to the world. The rest of the galaxy tries to decide how to handle this unprecedented situation as skirmishes erupt amongst the three fleets. The Creterakians claim self-sufficiency to the three competeing governments and send delegations to the three fleets to negotiate a settlement. The three fleets welcome the tiny, seemingly harmless Creterakian delegations, not realizing that the Creterakians are far from harmless. Swarming by the thousands, the small, flying creatures erupt from landing bays and within hours have captured all ships from the three fleets.

===Galactic attack===
The advanced nature of the Creterakian signal detection technology allowed them to plan a galactic attack for over 125 years without the knowledge of any other species. They carry out a war of attrition launching 50,000 landing ships that have been concealed on the planet. Each ship contains at least one million Creterakians. Fifty billion Creterakians spread through the galaxy within days. Thousands of ships are destroyed, but at least four ships land on every colonized planet in the galaxy. The Creterakians completely bypass navies, choosing to land on planets instead. Once on a planet, the Creterakian flocks unleash a devastating ground attack. Their speed, natural flight, and high-powered weaponry make them an unstoppable force. Within one week, all ground armies are overwhelmed.

Whitokian governments, based underwater, remain intact, but all land is overtaken. Being at the edge of the galaxy, the [[Prawatt Jihad]] has more time to react and they irradiate outlying worlds and colonies, and fall back to their system. They manage to destroy all of the Creterakian ships targeted for their core system. The [[Quyth]] government retreats to irradiated worlds, where the Creterakians choose not attack. The [[Planetary Union]] forces, led by Admiral Joshua Baugh, attempt a desperate attack on the Creterakian homeworld. The Creterakians use their captured warships to hold off the attack. The [[League of Planets]] [[Blue Fleet]], numbering over 1,000 vessels, joins the assault, but the Creterakians are waiting. The [[League of Planets|League]] is unaware that the Creterakians have discovered a design flaw in their ships, and manage to use small boarding vessels to swarm the [[League of Planets|League]] ships, capturing all of them in one devastating tactical stroke. The [[Ki Empire]] and [[Ki Rebellion]] navies join forces in an attack on the Creterakian homeworld, but are soundly defeated by the technologically advanced captured [[League of Planets|League]] ships. Almost 900 Creterakian warships and landing vessels enter the [[Portath Cloud]] and are never heard from again.

===The Aftermath===
Just a year later in 2641, the Creterakians demanded the surrender of all navies. Initially all systems refused, but the Creterakians execute thousands of hostages every day. The [[Planetary Union]] surrendered first, on the orders of Admiral Joshua Baugh. Next, the [[Ki Empire]] surrendered. The [[Ki Rebellion]], however, managed to evacuate government officials to a warship, declared themselves a space-faring race, abandoned their planets. The [[Purist Nation]], [[Tower Republic]], [[Leekee Collective]] and [[League of Planets]] all surrender.

In 2642, the [[Harrah Tribal Accord]] and [[Sklorno Dynasty]] both surrendered. Creterakians abandoned efforts to pacify Rewall Association and Kurgurk. Scientists aren't even sure if the Kurgurk knew the Creterakians were on their planets, as the Creterakian armies were seemingly completely ignored. Creterakians also abandoned efforts to pacify irradiated [[Quyth Concordia]] planets and abandoned efforts to pacify [[Whitok Kingdom]] as the Whitokian underwater combat technology was too great to overcome.

==Creterakian Era==
===The Dark Time===
By 2643, the Creterakians are in clear control of the Galaxy. Most species suspected existing governments were working with the Creterakians, which created an overpowering, Cold War atmosphere of distrust. Murder rates skyrocketed, as did isolationist cults and cross-species violence. In an effort to control cross-species violence and racism, the Creterakians took over all shipping between worlds in 2644. Creterakian shipping proved to be clumsy and poorly communicated and in a year’s time, goods and services were being delivered late, often not at all, and industry began to suffer heavily. By 2646, trouble with shipping resulted in a galaxy wide economic depression. Despite strict Creterakian discipline, murder and violence rates continued to climb. In cities and planets that formerly encouraged diversification, violence became a daily occurrence. Creterakian scientists assumed that once they had control of all military forces, a great peace would ensue, however it does not and the Creterakians began to realize they did not understand the behavior of other species.

2647 was looked upon as “The Dark Time”. This was because the galactic depression hit the worst levels ever, with galactic unemployment rates at 25 percent. Cross-species relations reached an all time low as organized crime swelled to new heights. Crime syndicates took advantage of the economic situation and provided unobtainable goods and services for exorbitant prices.

===Economic Recovery===
Finally in 2648, the Creterakians gave up on their role as the galaxy's shippers and turned the duties over to the [[Ki Empire]]. The [[Ki Empire]] provided an overall organizational structure and coordinated the shipping fleets of all subjugated governments. By 2649, the demand for imported goods and services skyrocketed as items once again became available on most worlds. In 2650, The [[Planetary Union]] added more stability to the economic environment by introducing a galactic supply-and-demand computing system, tying all shipping vessels into one gigantic, coordinated fleet. Economic recovery continues to boom.

===The GFL===
While the galactic economy recovered, the Creterakians still could not solve the problem of cross-species violence. In 2654, the Creterakians admitted they needed help in improving inter-species relations and they collaborated with the [[League of Planets]] to introduce non-contact galactic sporting events. The [[League of Planets|League]] recognizes that sports have historically brought races together, not only for humans, but for all sentient species. Furthermore, [[League of Planets|League]] scientists believed group dynamics that had held true for intra-species race relations would also hold true for inter-species relations. By 2657, the sporting events proved to be a boon to the entertainment and travel industries, but were not producing the predicted cross-species cooperation. This was because physiology differences resulted in single species dominating various sports. For instance, the [[Harrah]] dominated all racing events, the [[Ki]] dominated all strength, hand-to-hand combat and throwing events, the [[Sklorno]] dominated non-contact field sports like soccer and Humans dominated all hand-eye coordination sports like hockey, archery, etc.

In 2658, [[League of Planets|League]] scientist [[Demarkus Johnson]] unveils a plan for the [[Galactic Football League]]. Football is the only sport where various positions cater to the different physiologies. The Creterakian] readily accepted the idea and funded a test league of 12 teams. The [[GFL]] was an immediate success, as it forced species to work together. In addition, it was the first occurrence in decades where fans of one species rooted for players of another. Although there were some early setbacks in maintaining the [[GFL]], it proved to be the final answer in promoting inter-species cooperation.

==Creterakian Physiology==
Creterakians are described has having bodies roughly the size and shape of a football. Their bodies include a tadpole-like tail that is positioned horizontally to the ground and measuring about two feet in length. Creterakians have two sets of arms, one set on top of the other. The bottom set is usually reserved for manipulation of weapons while the top set was augmented with vein membranes that served as bat-like wings. The membranes run from their hands to their tails. They also have six eyes - one pair facing forward, one pair looking outward, one pair looking down.

Creterakians skin comes in various shaded of red, usually with splotches of pink or purple. Civilian and military Creterakians are also distinguishable by their manner of clothing. Military Creterakians wear back or silver uniforms of the empire, with some wearing the white uniforms of [[GFL|Galactic Football League]] security. Civilans wore garish clothes decorated with outrageous patterns, clashing colors and usually flashing lights incorporated into their design.

Creterakians breed in the billion but only have a lifespan of about 10 to 15 years.
