I might use character classes as actual things, or just as a guide to defining who can do what.
Contents
Animator
Meshworkers who can bring inanimate material to life.
- Louis Thibodeaux
Bruiser
Fighters who do their best work up close and personal. This class includes rixators, the physical enforcers of the Bastion.
- Robert Karas (Minotaur)
- Lincoln Franks (Rixator)
Bioarcaneist
Weavers who study the intersection of life and magic, crafting spells to manipulate or enhance living organisms.
- Cray-Cray Bray
- Louis Thibodeaux
Celestials
Gods and such, all the classic myths.
- Löwenmensch
- Skálgr
Creeper
Stalkers, Private Investigators, etc.
Elemental
Weavers and practitioners who control the elements.
- Antoni Piotrowski (earth)
- Callista (fire)
- Billy Middleton (fire)
- Morgan Stone (wind)
- Juanita Socorro (cold)
Filavore
"Eaters of magic." Weavers who gain power by absorbing the germline filament of naturalis. They can also absorb some kinds of meshwork.
Hellion
The classic demons, devils, etc.
Meshchanic
A naturalis that is exceptional at using, repairing, or modifying existing meshwork. Meshchanics can't make their own objects.
Mentis
Psionic practitioners, i.e. telepathy, telekinesis, mind control, etc. I'm not sure if this is a different kind of magic than threads.
Metamorphida
A.k.a. "Morpheus." Shape-shifters. This class includes were creatures like werewolves.
Purblind
The normals, the muggles.
Spinner
Someone who fabricates magic from the emotions of the purblind. Spinners make "threads" that weavers can spin into magic spells and items.
Tetherlock
These characters are equally skilled at up-close fighting, weapons, and also meshwork. They are sorcerer-fighters. The Bastion's "Monachi" or "Monks" are part of this class.
Weaver
A magician, shaman, wizard, etc.
Weavers come in two main varieties.
- Affinitas: Someone with an affinity for magic, but can't produce raw fiber on their own.
- Naturalis: Someone born with the ability to produce fiber. Man naturalis have no idea they can do this.
