Description
- From: SLAY Season 3: "Shaheem was an okay guy. Magda was happy he’d moved up in the ranks. Someday Shaheem might be the Clostator. If so, she would be happy for him."
Background
Shaheem trained alongside Lincoln Franks and Magda Magdalene during his early years in the Bastion. While Lincoln ultimately walked away from the Bastion, Shaheem remained and rose through the ranks with a blend of political grace and battlefield brutality. Despite his ascent, he never turned his back on Lincoln or Magda, and once defended Magda’s honor within Bastion leadership—though he eventually backed down under pressure, unwilling to throw away his career like Lincoln had.
Now serving as the Tertius, Shaheem wears the traditional brown cassock of a vilicus and the white sash signifying his rank. His presence commands respect, even among younger trainees who have heard tales of his battlefield ruthlessness.
Signature Weapon
Shaheem's weapon of choice is the Crucible Chain, a brutal hybrid of a kusarigama and a burning whip. The weapon is enchanted with meshwork that allows it to shift between a double-headed flail and a bladed chain depending on the wielder’s intent. Forged from darksteel and laced with old Bastion filament, the Crucible Chain can generate searing heat that cauterizes wounds on impact. It is particularly effective against regenerative creatures and is banned in standard duels due to its disfiguring damage.
Known Traits
- Ruthless in combat; friendly in every other aspect of life
- Unshakable loyalty to the Bastion
- Still sports a thin, patchy mustache he's had since age 16
- Fierce political neutralist—tries to keep the peace even among enemies like Lincoln Franks and Basil Beverly
Relationship with Lincoln Franks
Shaheem and Lincoln share a long, complex history. Although their paths diverged after Lincoln left the Bastion, Shaheem maintains a genuine fondness for him. When Lincoln returned to Cordis, Shaheem welcomed him with warmth and a bro-hug, even as others looked on with contempt. His loyalty to Lincoln is tempered by his commitment to Bastion protocol, placing him in a difficult position when politics and prophecy collide.
