Gold tracking

If someone holds onto gold for a varying length of time, their enlightened essence can imprint on that gold. A good tracker can follow that essence in a way similar to a bloodhound following a scent trail.
From SLAY SEASON ONE: "The gold she had might carry a touch of her essence. Good hunters had ways of tracking that, just as they had ways of tracking normal monetary transactions. Swapping out her gold would buy her time."
