Dante Oganov is an enlightened crime boss from Miami.

Character Overview

Dante is a Russian immigrant. He started out as a creeper for the Russian mafia, learning details about people his bosses could use as blackmail material. He was sent to Florida to help the Miami obshchak ("brigade" or "crew"). Dante applied those skills to learning about the habits and patterns of his new bosses, then used that information to have them assassinated so he could assume control.

Under his leadership, the Miami obshchak greatly expanded the trade of nurple.

Eventually, relatives of the bosses Dante killed came looking for him. He decided to find greener pastures, targeting Lumencia crime boss Callista and her criminal operation.

Attributes

Description

Human form

From SLAY Book I: Seventy pounds overweight, yellowing teeth, hair slicked back by either gel or the same sweat that sheened his face, yet Billy wouldn’t have crossed the man for all the money in the world. Sigler, Scott; Otto, Rob. SLAY (The Slay Series Book 1) (p. 23). Empty Set Entertainment. Kindle Edition.

Goblin form

From SLAY: Dante had green skin. Green. His mouth was wider. Pointy ears. Yellow eyes. Sharp teeth that were too big for the yellowish lips. Sigler, Scott; Otto, Rob. SLAY (The Slay Series Book 1) (p. 27). Empty Set Entertainment. Kindle Edition.

Personality

Dante presents himself as an up-beat individual. He is a good negotiator, adept at hiring talent to do his bidding. He is a fair but ruthless boss.

Creeper Skills

  • Dante can detect and disarm magical barriers, wards, and cursed constructs. His fingers twitch like a tuning fork near filament traps. Bastionites hate that he can “see through the stitch.”
  • Lock Manipulation (Physical & Magical) – He’s mastered old-school bump keys and torsion wrenches and whispered glyphs that convince sentient locks they’ve already been opened.
  • Electric / Infrastructure Sabotage – He can black out a city block without tripping a single surveillance node. Knows how to hit substations, street-level junctions, and Bastion-run power regulators.

Family

Known Associates

Magical Abilities

Dante possesses abilities that help him as a creeper. He can move silently, blend with shadows, is a skilled pickpocket, and knows surveillance equipment (both conventional and magical).

Identifying Mannerisms

  • Tagline: "Is good!"

Gear

Creeper Gear

  • Pocket Sanctuary: A charm-sealed dimensional pouch he uses for burglary tools, talismans, and hot loot. Insides smell like leather and gunpowder.
  • Ghost Step:Low-tier vanishing trick. No flash, no noise—just an absence where he once stood.
  • Polyglot of the Underworld: Speaks gutter dialects of five major magical territories.

Signature Weapons

  • Filament MSP Groza silent pistol: A compact, hand-forged, two-shot revolver no bigger than a cigarette case. Built from brass, bone, and pale-burn filament mesh that glows faintly along the barrel. A mystic nod to the gambler’s sleeve-gun. It’s not about the shootout—it’s about the reveal, the twist, the threat unspoken.Fires two types of rounds:
    • Truthbullet – Burns through glamours, illusions, and magical disguises. If it hits, all lies fall away.
    • Forgetmeshot – Erases the last 30 seconds of the victim’s memory.
  • Whisper Shiv: A slim, obsidian dagger with a grip wrapped in flayed prayer scrolls. The blade absorbs sound within a five-foot radius, muffling footsteps, gasps, even gunfire. But when it pierces flesh, the victim hears their own buried secrets whispered back to them — sometimes aloud. The shiv flickers like a shadow caught in peripheral vision. Never reflects light. When Dante draws it, the air gets still.
    • Meshwork of Guilt effect: When used, the blade activates a low-level emotional meshfield that dredges up the target’s guilt, trauma, or suppressed memory. Victims often babble confessions or freeze mid-combat.
  • Tokarev TT-33

Miami Notes

  • Dante had a nurple maker, a warlock, chained up in a basement in Overtown.
