Description
From SLAY:
- “Little?” Callista laughed. A tired laugh, but a laugh all the same. “Ophelia is two meters tall with forty double-Ds and a tongue like a buzz-saw. If you leave now, Oakbeard, I won’t kill her after I kill you.” Sigler, Scott; Otto, Rob. SLAY (The Slay Series Book 1) (p. 342). (Function). Kindle Edition.
From SLAY Book III: Easy Kill (draft edition):
- A young woman who’d slashed her own forest-green robes to reveal long legs and expose her midriff. He shivered with fear, as he should. She should have been doing the same, but the petulant girl instead stood with fists on hips, her jade green eyes glaring with defiance.
- She wore her auburn hair up in a bun fixed with oak twigs. The ivy-vine tattoo wrapped around her neck seemed to flutter in a stiff wind, as it did when she got angry, when she became insolent. The raven tattoos on both of her whorishly exposed collarbones flapped in irritation.
- Eyes painted with far too much green and blue makeup squinted in anger. Her upper lip curled, revealing the pictish runes etched in silver on each of her white teeth.
- Wavering beams of emerald light fluoresced from Ophelia’s hair and ears—the same thing had happened to her mother when she’d grown furious.

Gear
Signature Weapons
Ophelia wields a pair of rune-carved deer antler shivs named Velthorn and Bramblekiss. Grown from the magically preserved antlers of a druid-blessed stag, the twin blades are jagged, wickedly curved, and etched with living glyphs that shimmer when fed filament.
Abilities:
- Symbiotic Growth: When wielded by Ophelia, the blades subtly change shape over time, adapting to her grip and fighting style. If broken, they regrow within days from the root runes on her palms.
- Entangling Strike: On contact, Velthorn can cause thorned vines to erupt from the wound, ensnaring the target and rooting them to the ground.
- Poisoned Kiss: Bramblekiss carries a slow-acting natural venom, brewed from nightshade and wasp filament. Victims feel drowsy, compliant, and emotionally open—useful for interrogation or seduction.
- Nature’s Recall: When thrown, either blade can be summoned back to Ophelia’s hands by whispering the druidic command word (”éirigh”).
- Filament Reservoir: Both blades can store a small charge of Ophelia’s filament, allowing her to cast minor tattoo spells even if otherwise drained.
