Akil Daniels is an intelligence officer aboard the PUV James Keeling.

Character Background

Akil's father, Meka Daniels, and mother, Quanda Daniels, were con artists. Even as a small child, Akil was often a participant in their various cons. The family grifted their way through the Planetary Union, going through periods of boom and but while largely avoiding the law.

That run of luck soured when police arrested the family for selling counterfeit fabricators. One of they units they sold exploded, killing two children and wounding their mother. Meka and Quanda were sentenced to twenty years with no chance of parole.

Akil, 15 years old at the time, was put into the juvenile punishment system, where he received consistent schooling for the first time in his life. He became a straight-A student. During required testing, he showed high marks in emotional intelligence as well as a certain moral flexibility.

The Bureau of Intelligence and Information recruited him. At 17, Akil entered Blackhall, where he excelled. He could never fully leave his criminal upbringing behind, however, which would lead to actions for which he was sentenced to the PUV James Keeling.
