Catrina "Cat" Brown is a character in The Crypt series. As of Book I, SHAKEDOWN, she is the Weapons Department Head (WEPS) aboard the PUV James Keeling.

Character Background
Brown married young, at seventeen. At eighteen, she entered the Neptune Science Academy on the ROTC program to study mechanical engineering, graduating at twenty-one. After two miscarriages, she divorced at twenty-two and was commissioned as an ensign in Fleet.

Description
From VOIDSTRIKE: Cat Brown, head of the weapons department, didn’t seem to know how to answer. She rubbed the top of her shaved head. Perhaps she hailed from warmer climes, as her skin showed no gleam of perspiration.

Reason for Keeling Assignment
As WEPS aboard PUV Ithaca, Brown refused to fire torpedoes at a civilian vessel picking up survivors from destroyed enemy ships. She was courts martialed and convicted of failing to follow lawful orders.
