Douglas Nadia was a 21-year-old geology graduate student at Brigham Young University. On March 15, 1942, Wilford Igoe, Jr. led him and Samuel J. Anderson on a field expedition into Utah's Wah Wah Mountains. While Will rested after clearing an opening in an ancient cave-in, Sam led Doug into the tunnel beyond. Will woke just in time to try pulling a frantic Douglas out of the opening, but rocktopi severed Doug's hand at the wrist and pulled the rest of the body back in, presumably killing him.
The three were reported missing in the April 4, 1942 issue of The Y News. An article on May 30, 1942 reported them to be presumed dead.
