Samuel J. Anderson is a character in the novel EarthCore by author Scott Sigler.
Character Background
Samuel Anderson was a 22-year-old geology graduate student at Brigham Young University. On March 15, 1942, led by Wilford Igoe, Jr., he and Douglas Nadia were doing fieldwork in Utah's Wah Wah Mountains. While Will rested after clearing an opening through an ancient cave-in, Sam led Douglas through into the tunnel beyond. Sam was apparently killed by rocktopi inside, giving him the dubious distinction of the first to die in EarthCore.
The three were reported missing in the April 4, 1942 issue of The Y News. An article on May 30, 1942 reported them to be presumed dead.
