Jester Gillick is an intelligence officer aboard the PUV James Keeling.

Character Background

Gillick's family immigrated to the Planetary Union Union from the Leekee Collective when he was eight. His family lived on Thomas 3, then Mars. He excelled in psychological operations and surveillance strategy, earning admission to Blackhall, the Bureau of Information and Intelligence’s elite training program.

Blackhall is the BII’s secretive academy for intelligence operatives, rumored to be located on Earth. Cadets are trained in infiltration, psychological manipulation, languages, counterespionage, and classified assassination protocols. Very few know the location of Blackhall. Fewer still graduate.

Attributes

Description

From The Crypt: Shakedown:

  • Gillick had thick black hair, a round face, and a down-angled nose that made him look like he’d grown up in a Sino settlement. Sigler, Scott. The Crypt: Shakedown: (A Military Sci-Fi Novel) (p. 141). Aethon Books. Kindle Edition.

From The Crypt: Voidstrike:

  • His round face bothered her. So did the steep angle of his snub nose, an angle made steeper thanks to being broken by Nitzan Shamdi’s head-butt. Three weeks later, and faint, yellowish bruises still remained. Unpublished second draft.

Personality

Jester is brilliant but unstable. He exhibits intense jealousy, compulsive loyalty, and a disturbing tendency to overanalyze interpersonal dynamics. His paranoia makes him an effective analyst — and a dangerous man when emotionally compromised.

Family

An only child, Gillick's parents died in a traffic accident when he was in Blackhall.

Friends

On Keeling, he is tasked with watching the crew closely. To facilitate this, he presents as a gregarious person, always interested in what his cremates are doing.

Reason for Keeling Assignment

Convicted of crimes related to the stalking and harassment of a male Fleet Lieutenant with whom Gillick had an obsessive romantic fixation. Charges included illegal surveillance, unauthorized access to restricted comms, and one count of attempted intimidation using BII psychological warfare protocols. Sentenced to two years aboard the PUV James Keeling in lieu of imprisonment.

Identifying Mannerisms

Often runs one hand through his thick black hair when nervous. Tends to murmur analysis aloud. Has an unsettling habit of smiling when others are in distress.

Fan Based Character

The character is based on Jester Gillick, an Original Junkie (OJ) in the world of Siglerism.
