Overview

The Salamander-class voidcraft is a fast, agile single-pilot attack fighter (SPAC) deployed by the Whitok Kingdom. Built for high-speed interception and void-to-void dogfighting, Salamanders are also capable of engaging capital ships with the powerful Tadpole ship-killer missile.

Design

Salamanders feature a unique **water-filled cockpit module**, allowing for internal pressure stabilization during extreme maneuvering. Their grav-flux propulsion system allows them to reach hypersonic speeds—up to ~11,714 km/h (Mach 9.5)—making them a critical component in both defensive screens and offensive raids.

Despite their relatively small size, they carry a varied payload of void-to-void missiles and a powerful 30mm autocannon.

Armament

  • Primary Gun: 30mm forward autocannon
  • Missiles:

Tactical Role

Salamanders are launched from cruisers like the Komodo-class and are best used in:

  • Dogfighting enemy voidcraft
  • Missile interception
  • Fast strike missions on vulnerable targets
  • Harassment of capital ships using speed and maneuverability

Known Limitations

While highly maneuverable, Salamanders are lightly armored and dependent on evasive tactics. Tadpole missiles generate large STC signatures on launch, making strike runs risky without cover.
