Skyloaf

Skyloaf is an element of the short story Kaiju Poo-Poo.

Skyloaf is the common name for the gelatinous, aerated fecal excretion of Tammuz corpulus—a rare kaiju whose digestive process neutralizes radioactive and biochemical toxins, making its dung the only form of organic matter safe for human consumption.

Collection and Delivery

Fresh skyloaf is typically harvested using aerial collector craft (such as the Arseborne Valor) during a cloacal drop event. Once detached from Tammuz, skyloaf falls from altitudes of up to 30,000 feet and impacts the ground or designated catchment zones. Collected skyloafs are either:

  • Caught mid-air by tethered net-blimps and brought to base via tow-dirigibles
  • Tracked via descent vectors and recovered by armored ground teams using atmospheric rebreathers
  • Slingshot via gravity sled into highland refineries from nearby cliffs or mesas

Once secured, the turd is loaded into an **Intake Silo** via crane, loader, or direct drop.

Refining Process

Skyloaf is processed in four main phases:

  1. Despoiling – Surface spores, parasites, and crust are burned off using chemical flame and UV arrays.
  2. Biofiltration – Internals are pumped through genetically modified gut bacteria to break down residual kaiju enzymes and alkaloids.
  3. Separation – Material is mechanically pressed and spun to divide into three categories:
    1. Protein-rich core paste
    2. Fuel-grade fibrous solids
    3. Nutrient slurry

Processed outputs are sent to sealed packaging labs or distributed via pneumatic tube to rationing districts.
