Lincoln Emanuel Franks is a Rixator who used to work for The Bastion with the rest of his famous monster-hunting family, has turned his back on being a company man. Although his brother and sister continue to work for the Bastion, Lincoln has gone freelance and now only fights supernatural creatures when he is paid to.

Appearance

Linc is 6-foot-3 and weighs about 220 pounds (he needs to lose a few, target weight, 190). He has slate-gray eyes. Black hair. He has a scar on his cheek he deliberately had sutured, rather than magically healed, so he would remember the wound he received at the sword of Teddy Two-Fingers

Descriptions

From SLAY:

  • The Man in Gray flipped his cloak aside. In an instant, Anastasia saw hints of dark-gray armor, a holstered pistol, a sheathed knife as long as her arm, but he didn’t grab those — his right hand came out holding a little axe. A hatchet, she remembered.
  • Whatever it was that covered his face receded, a spent wave sliding back across the sand and into the sea. What lay beneath was both comforting and terrifying in its own right. Comforting because he was human, something she’d taken for granted but not anymore. He was an old man, maybe thirty or forty, Anastasia wasn’t good at guessing ages. He had high cheekbones and a heavy jaw. Terrifying because of his bright, steel-gray eyes, or rather, what was in them — an analytical coldness that made her shiver.
  • The cloak-wearing psycho from the warehouse — Joe’s murderer. He looked real. Solid. Normal, if you didn’t count the gray cloak and that bizarre black-cloud mask that hid his eyes, wavering and curling as if driven by an invisible breeze.
  • He smiled ruefully, his gray-peppered stubble making the deep laugh lines at the corners of his mouth seem deeper, darker, only Anastasia had a feeling those lines weren’t from laughing.

From SLAY II: Hatchet Man:

  • A tall man slid into view on Mortimer’s right. A man wearing gray armor mostly covered by a gray hood and a ragged cloak. Slowly roiling mist hid his eyes, extending outward like gossamer demon horns.
  • Linc stood there, Bastard Maker in his hand, the Haze of Simurel that hid his eyes curling up like demon horns crafted from solid smoke. His ragged, dark gray cloak hung to the ground, seemed to merge with it, and with the night’s darkness, making him blend into the shadows so thoroughly he was damn near invisible even though he stood right there, on the muddy shore, completely in the open.

Between Cloak

Lincoln's cloak was custom-made for him when he became a rixator. It is made from the tanned skin of a Fold Dragon, a creature that can travel between planes of reality. The leather of Lincoln's cloak is 3,000 years old.

  • The cloak has a small amount of space that simultaneously exists both in our plane and in the Fold.
  • Solid items stored in the cloak temporarily become pure filmament, with no rigidity. A shotgun, for example, becomes a flexible as a ribbon, and stays in that form until the cloak's owner removes it. At that point, the items returns to its solid state.
  • The cloak's "Haze of Simurel" provides several functions:
    • For the person wearing the cloak, it can turn day to night and night to day. In effect, this gives the wearer excellent night vision and significant protection against bright flashes or blinding attacks.
    • It hides the wearer's eyes, mitigating many fear-based attacks.
  • Cloak's other magical abilities
    • The "sursum" command makes the cloak push off a surface, greatly adding to the wearer's ability to leap.

Lincoln rides a blacked-out Verge TS electric motorcycle.

  • When he's not wearing his cloak, he stores it in the bike's storage compartment beneath the seat. He will put his armor in the cloak, creating significant space savings.
  • The Verge is a nearly silent vehicle, and in any city scape with any amount of traffic noise, it is completely silent.
  • The Verge TS has some meshwork enhancements, including auto-steering and intelligent speed control, and a meshwork ramp, which is activated by Lincoln speaking the word "aggerem."
