Sigler Universes

From Siglerpedia
Jump to: navigation, search

The majority of Sigler's stories are told within the same universe, dubbed The Siglerverse. The Siglerverse is based on the real world but has been impacted in various ways by the happenings in various novels and stories. Other groups of stories are told in different "universes" that may be common to the stories in their grouping, but separate from those in other 'verses.

The following universes have been identified. In order to be included, at least two separately-published stories must exist in the same universe, or the universe must have been explicitly named by Sigler.

Sigler Universes

The universes in this category are created by Scott Sigler, and contain stories primarily authored by him. The GFL novellas and the stories of The Crypt are co-written by Scott Sigler and various collaborators, but they exist within the universe created by Sigler.

The Siglerverse

The Siglerverse is the largest and longest-lived universe in Sigler's repertoire. The stories of the Siglerverse span from early 20th century (Kissyman Era) to the 39th century (Generations Era). The stories in this category all take place in the same chronological timeline, and the impacts of events from one story carry ramifications into stories set in the future.

Kissyman Era

The stories of the reformed Nazi SS officer Kissyman are told in a series of stories that take place post-World War II, roughly from 1947 to 1950. Originally an unconnected and separate universe, the 2017 release of Kissyman and the Succubus tied the Kissyman world to the world of Nocturnal, firmly establishing Kissyman in the Siglerverse.

Medieval America

The Medieval America (or New World) stories take place in a world separate and distinct from other Sigler Properties. Although the stories take place on Earth, in and around the San Francisco area, set in a time approximately 1,000 years hence, there is no overlap with any Hunter Hunterson & Sons or Marie’s Children stories and characters.

In the Medieval America stories, a young woman has trained as a deadly assassin, wielding sharpened glass shards as projectile weapons. She is able to throw them with unerring accuracy. Her masterful skills belie her personal insecurities, however, and she spends her time in hiding, reluctant to showcase her skills and abilities in deference to maintaining a low profile.

Only one story, The Final Blow, has been written in this universe.

Collaborative Universes

Sigler has also written stories that take place within a universe created by someone else.

Tales of the Third Wave

Mur Lafferty encouraged other authors to write stories set in her superhero universe, and Sigler stepped up to the challenge. His story, The Pink Torpedo, is his only story in this oeuvre.

Seventh Son

JC Hutchins’ invited authors to write stories set in his ‘’Seventh Son’’ universe. Eusocial Networking was Sigler’s one and only entry into the writing space.

V-Wars

Jonathan Maberry’s wildly popular V-Wars anthology books are now in its fourth volume. The stories have expanded to comic books and a Netflix show, and Sigler provided two stories for volumes two and three of the anthologies.

Aliens

It’s no secret that Sigler’s favorite science-fiction franchise is Aliens. He became involved with an anthology for which he created Dangerous Prey, a short story from the xenomorph’s point of view. This led to an opportunity to pen Aliens: Phalanx, a complete canon novel for the same publisher, Titan Books.

Predator

Scott Sigler has written a few short stories in the Predator universe, including one that connects to the Aliens universe. That story is listed in both the Aliens and Predator sections of this page.

Overlapping Universes

Overlapping Universes are characters from separate authors that have come together in a story. Although the stories may contain Sigler-canon content, it is not reasonably expected that the non-Sigler property’s continuity has been absorbed into Sigler’s, or vice-versa.

Joe Ledger

Sigler has one story that takes place in Overlapping Universes: Vacation, in which characters from Nocturnal interact with characters from Jonathan Maberry’s popular Joe Ledger series.
